Wedding Veils

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

Up until recently, I wasn't a big fan of veils! I thought they were a little out-dated or too traditional. Lately though I have seen some gorgeous examples that are chic and still so feminine and pretty.

Sometimes, the simplest of tulle veils can really set off the silhouette of your dress. However, if you're a little more daring or want your veil to be a feature element of your look; why not check out the designs of Sara Gabriel?

Colourful wedding shoes

Saturday, July 25, 2009

I'm noticing a huge trend - (admittedly from Australian and American bridal websites) for brides to choose colour for their wedding shoes. What better contrast to ivory or white than a blast of wonderful colour when you lift up the edge of your dress?

In most cases you rarely see the bride's shoes and at the end of the day they get tucked into a box never to be worn again. Your wedding day is an opportunity to express your individuality. If you have selected your favourite colours for your colour theme, why not extend this to your shoe colour?

You may never get to wear your wedding gown again but those shoes....

Half-up, half-down hairstyles

Saturday, July 4, 2009

As I mentioned in my post below, the choice of bridal hairstyle is key to the overall 'look' for your wedding day. Is your dress soft and romantic, Grecian or more classic in style? More importantly - what feels right for you? It is really important to feel comfortable on your wedding day.

The half-up hairstyle is a lovely alternative to the up-style. It allows you to create a little bit of height at the back of your hair, while still having some softness around your face. Soft curls are popular at the moment and are good for creating more volume.

Have a look at my Rangoli website for more hairstyle and accessory inspiration and be sure to read my other articles about hairstyles.

Soft bridal upstyles

Are you looking for ideas for your bridal hairstyle? As a hair accessories designer, I am really influenced by the type of hairstyle that my clients choose for their special occasion. I love designing pieces to accentuate the form of the hair as well as adding the finishing touch to the look.

Every season there are new hairstyle trends but many styles are timeless classics. There is a move towards softer and less structured hairstyles. I love these more natural styles which are soft and feminine.

I gather inspiration images of hairstyles that I share with anyone who is looking for hair ideas. The images below are from my 'Yummy Hairstyles' board on Pinterest.

When clients visit my showroom, I start by looking at pictures of their dress as well as hairstyles ideas. If someone has not already had a hair trial, I can advise on styles that I feel would suit them. Many of my hair accessories are very versatile and can be worn in a number of different ways in the hair, allowing the hairstylist to use them creatively.

You also find an archive of articles on this blog that relate to hairstyles and the type of hair accessories that will suit each one. I offer tips and advice and describe how I come up with bespoke designs.

And finally, I have hairstyle albums on my Rangoli Jewellery Facebook page. Here you'll see my Half-up hairstyles, Short hairstyles, as wells as Soft upstyles albums.

Please get in touch if you'd like to discuss headpiece ideas - I'd love to hear from you. And let me know your favourite bridal hairstyles! I hope I have inspired you.
