Penhaligon's is a London perfumers established in 1870. The first perfume was dreamt up by William Penhaligon after inhaling the steam and sulphurous aromas of his neighbouring Turkish baths. Let their descriptive passage carry you off into your imagination...
"Fragrance is liquid emotion. It unlocks memories and opens doors; it can stop us in our tracks, lost somewhere for a moment in time. Recollections triggered by a dusting or iris, a whisper of clove, a burst of juicy nectarine, a trail of smoky incense, a cream lick of vanilla. At Penhaligon's we understand the emotive power of scent".How about this for a quirky promotion? Look out for a fleet of Penhaligon’s scented taxis which hit the streets of London this week. Each one will smell of a different fragrance inside and the drivers have all been trained to talk about the various products. Sounds magical to me - I hope they're giving away free samples!
Another of my favourites is Tom Ford's Black Orchid - more for evening time than wedding day but I love the bold oriental spiciness -
"...........Fragrance Notes: Bergamot, Citrus, Mandarin, Black Gardenia, Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang, Lotus Wood, Orchid, Spicy Floral Accord, Orchid (Tom Ford Black Accord), Patchouli, Sandalwood, Incense, Vanilla........"What are your favourite purfumes?!
